Drop Dead

October 30, 1975, New York City is on the verge of bankruptcy when President Gerald Ford announces he will not give NYC any federal assistance to help it avoid defaulting on its outstanding loans. The Daily News responses to this decision by printing this infamous headline.

Ford as King Kong wearing a football helmet.  Ford played football for Michigan and was voted MVP in 1934. Lyndon Johnson said this about him, "He's a nice guy but he played too much football with his helmet off."
